1.0 Picture Making Techniques (2D Art)

1.1 Drawing

• Analyzing elements of 2D art: line, shape, texture, value, colour.

• Analyzing principles of 2D art: balance, dominance, proportion, rhythm, harmony.

• Visualizing and drawing in one-point perspective (normal eye level and bird’s-eye view).

• Visualizing and drawing in two-point perspective (angular objects and spaces).

• Still life composition: collecting objects, arranging, sketching, and shading using the smudge technique.

• Portfolio creation: making folders using recyclable materials and organizing artworks.

1.2 Painting

• Wash techniques: experimenting with flat and graded washes.

• Scenery painting: making viewfinders, selecting sceneries, and painting backgrounds, middlegrounds, and foregrounds.

• Brush-spraying techniques: designing/cutting stencils, preparing paints, and applying multiple layers to create rhythm and movement.

• Finishing techniques: trimming and window mounting paintings.

1.3 Collage

• Analyzing collage characteristics: mixed-media, texture, 3D effects, painterly effects, and juxtaposition.

• Single media collage: sketching, creating backgrounds/subjects, and applying juxtaposition.

• Mixed-media collage: selecting textured materials, creating 3D effects, trimming, and mounting.
