The schemes of work cover 4 lessons per week and follow the KICD curriculum design.

Strand 1.0: Creating

Sub-strand 1.1: Play Writing

• Description and analysis of essential playwriting elements: story, plot, character, dramatic style, setting, dialogue, and dramatic action.

• Identification and examination of the three-act structure—exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution.

• Identifying themes based on Pertinent and Contemporary Issues (PCI).

• Generating story concepts, developing character profiles, and drafting dialogues that introduce conflict.

• Structuring a plot for a three-act play.

• Writing Scene 1 using dramatic language and literary devices such as monologue, dramatic irony, suspense, and imagery.

• Developing and drafting a script for community engagement based on a selected PCI.

• Recording playwriting processes and reflections in a logbook.

Sub-strand 1.2: Poetry Writing

• Description of characteristics of spoken word poetry.

• Identification and analysis of poetic elements including theme, persona, form, language, wordplay, and rhyme patterns.

• Researching societal issues to select an appropriate theme for scripting.

• Creating a detailed character bible for a poetic persona.

• Composing, refining, and completing a spoken word poem incorporating key poetic elements.

• Documenting the poetry writing process in a reflective logbook.

• Presenting spoken word poems for peer review.
