  • Identification and analysis of poetic elements including theme, persona, form, language, wordplay, and rhyme patterns.

  • Researching societal issues to select an appropriate theme for scripting.

  • Creating a detailed character bible for a poetic persona.

  • Composing, refining, and completing a spoken word poem incorporating key poetic elements.

  • Documenting the poetry writing process in a reflective logbook.

  • Presenting spoken word poems for peer review.
